Jubilee Year 2025
At St Alban’s, we joyfully embrace the Holy Year of 2025, declared by Pope Francis as the Jubilee Year. The theme, “Pilgrims of Hope” calls on us to journey forward in faith, embracing hope as a guiding light in our lives. The Jubilee will commence in Advent 2024 and continue until the Feast of the Epiphany in 2026.
What is a Jubilee Year?
A Jubilee Year is a special time in the Church, occurring every 25 years, dedicated to spiritual renewal, prayer, and acts of mercy. It is a time to open our hearts to God’s grace, seek forgiveness, and grow in faith as a community.
The Jubilee Year begins with the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica, marking the start of a time for spiritual renewal and grace. This tradition continues with the three other papal basilicas in Rome, symbolizing the Church’s invitation to deepen faith and embrace hope.
To make this sacred experience accessible to all, the Pope has granted permission for Holy Doors to be opened in churches worldwide. This allows Catholics everywhere to take part in this meaningful rite, stepping into God’s love and embarking on a journey of faith.
Pilgrim of Hope – Our Theme for the Year
This Jubilee invites us to walk as pilgrims of hope, trusting in God’s love and bringing His light to the world. In our school, we will explore:
- Hope in our faith – Deepening our relationship with God through prayer and reflection.
- Hope in action – Acts of kindness, charity, and service to others.
- Hope in our community – Strengthening bonds within our school and beyond.
